I started rebuilding my website several weeks ago, but of course I got distracted by life, with kids, and somehow even posting about it, seemed daunting... lol But here we go... I hope everyone has a chance to visit the new site; or remembers the website to see what is new in the studio, from time to time.
After my group show near the end of April this year, I took a few months off from painting, almost feeling like I was ready to quit painting altogether; I was just feeling burnt out from painting for the group show, with upheavals in our family all year, between covid and trying to keep my head above water.... I felt like I was done. I packed up my studio, downsized everything, gave supplies away, put my kids names on things for the will, made burn piles, and started hauling stuff to the garage. I guess I thought I was serious about quitting. lol
However, I dug out my oil paint supplies and set up a painting spot on my deck, after sitting in storage for many years, back to when I was a foster parent. Around the same time, I brought out all my water mediums I have not used in over 30 years, feeling like going back to my original mediums may be the only thing to pull me out of my personal funk.
Two months later, after throwing many brushes into neighbouring yards and tree tops, out of frustration, I started painting; Almost painting 15 hours a day on the deck for all of July and August, and often well into the mornings in my studio... and created nearly 250 pieces of art... so I should learn to not take myself so serious at times... lmao
It feels great to be back in the studio again, feeling like I have a fresh start. I will mostly be working with watercolours, and mix media till winter comes, and I am excited to hear what everyone thinks of the work, in the new mediums. I have several personal projects on the go that I am looking forward to developing, and just recently I was offered a solo show a few years from now, that I am eager to start shifting my attentions to in the studio!
